What does a novice programmer need?

Hello! I just started my college education as a programmer, and I can't understand anything.. what is the first thing to learn?

Difficulty in understanding is very common, even for serious programmers sometimes. Your focus as a programmer is to understand the technicalities of you code and hence write programs that function well.

C++ is a good start. Or for an easier one, go for python. However, grasping c++ will help you better understand programming in general and also provide skills translatable to other languages.

A good coding fundamentals book, an easy to use modern ide, and a good computer, and most importantly, lots of practice.
