That really depends on your mind.
Many people cannot rest from something for a long time due they will probably forget many informations.. in other cases people are able to focus on different things for a longer time and still be able to remember 95% of previous focused thing
My tip for you is to ask yourself how long do you really want to take a break.. also, if it's going to be time in days, you can still practise every single day for few minutes to keep your mind refreshed and ready for next learning =)

best advice i can give you:
follow your body. it will tell you after how long it is ready to go back to it. i wouldn't be too worried, as the joy to solve problems comes back quite fast.
take walks in the nature, stay in the presence of family and friends, that's the real quality time, if you want to travel do it. then go back to study

Yeah, sometimes it can be valid to take a break even if you suffer a few temporary losses, because you just need it, bodywise or mentally.
As long as over the long term your skill and knowledge increases at a rate that works for you, why should you mind?
(And that repetition thing can help you to take your breaks maximally strategically. ;-))

The break should be as long as it takes you to revive yourself and start again, whether it's one day or one month.

The problem with the brain is that it doesn't care if you want to forget something or not:
If you don't use it often enough, you *will* forget it.
How long that takes (and how quickly you can recover losses) depends on how well you already ingrained the material.
In my experience, the pattern in that code down there works well in order to remember and not forget something (always in combination with actual practice).
If you run it, you'll see that the intervals become longer and longer before you need to repeat something.
Now if you took a break of a while, you'll very likely forget what you just learned - because you miss the crucial points (rather zones) for repetition.
The stuff that's already deeper in and doesn't need repetition that often, will probably still be there.

Yes, if you think you need a break, go for it. When i start learning a new language, I will keep on learning for few days straight, but to avoid myself from getting too exhausted,i will take a break for around 3 to 4 days and continue again. Dont take a break for too long, otherwise you wouldn't be in the mood to continue anymore.

it's depends but don't take a rest to long. do something new or go to gym or travel . do anything that will make you happy. it will help you to continue learning
