a=5**2 that is 5×5=25 a=2**3 that is 2×2×2=8 b=3**3 that is 3×3×3=27 d=2**4 that is 2×2×2×2=16 j=9**(1/2) that is √9=3 f=2**-2=1/(2×2)=1/4=0.25 https://www.sololearn.com/learn/JUMP_LINK__&&__Python__&&__JUMP_LINK/2273/

Well exponentation is multiplicating a number by itself a certain amount of times, some examples: 2 ** 2 = 2 * 2 = 4 2 ** 3 = 2 * 2 * 2 = 8 5 ** 3 = 5 * 5 * 5 = 125 10 ** 2 = 10 * 10 = 100 1 ** 5 = 1 * 1 * 1 * 1 * 1 = 1 7 ** 2 = 7 * 7 = 49 -5 ** 2 = -5 * (-5) = 25 -3 ** 3 = -3 * (-3) * (-3) = -27 If you spend little time with learning exponentation, it'll be very clear for you.

its easy if u study less mathmatics 2**2 means that multiply 2 two times if it be like this 2**3 it means that multiply 2 three times and so on if it be 3**2 it means to multiply 3 two times ...

Black Hat You are correct, However that says -5 to the power of positive 2 so -5**+2 = -25. Wouldn't you agree that -5**-2 would equal +25 instead? If you run -5**2 in Python it equals -25

because if you want it to be positive you surround the -5 with parentheses so it satisfies the order of operations like (-5)^2 does not equal -5^2 because in the first you are raising the whole thing to the power of 2 and in the second you are raising only the 5 to the power of 2 and then making it negative

Juan Dentone anything to a negative exponent means you make it 1 divided by that number i.e. 2**-2 = 1/4 while 2**2 equals 4. Therefore, -5**-2 equals -1/25.

no its not - 25 -5*-5 = 25 because five multiply with five and - multiply with - is equal to + if the coteint is odd the answer is - else it will be +
