CSS makes the webpages pretty, JS, Java, C#, C, and C++ Makes it function, Php SQL jQuery makes data. If you had to do only 2 I would pick CSS and JS (aka JavaScript).

alfasheep123, you ask that question as if HTML is a programming language. But HTML is not a *programming* language. But HTML *is* a language. There are different kind of languages:
markup languages, and
programming languages.
Markup languages let you *show* a calculator, but a programming language makes the calculator *work*. That's the difference.
The 'ML' in HTML means 'Markup Language'. Markup Languages (like HTML) are used for design, to specify how something looks, like 'here is text, and i want to make this text bigger, or bold, or visible or hidden, etc. CSS is neither a markup language nor a programming language, but CSS specifies how text and other things on a web page *look*. CSS is a 'language', but just a different kind than either a 'markup' language or 'programming' language. If u can't make a calculator *work* with that language then it is not a programming language. JavaScript allows u to make a calculator on a web page work, so it is a programming language.

HTML and CSS and JavaScript are all 'technologies' that i think every programmer today shud learn. but it's not mandatory. but it wud certainly be a good idea. I think every technology with a course on SoloLearn is popular enuf that it's not a waste of time to learn. plus SoloLearn's depth is so basic that it is really a shallow introduction to the technologies, rather than a long investment that might be a waste of time.

for beginners, i wud recommend HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as these three are all needed to make web pages as anyone might want web pages. As for a popular programming language, the easiest one to learn, in my opinion is C#. C# is simpler than C, C++, and Java. in my city, the 2 most popular programming languages that companies want to hire people for are C# and Java. And C# is certainly a better language than Java, when measured by how many quirks the language has. Not many people know this but Microsoft hired the lead programmer of the Java team to make a Microsoft version of Java. that's what .NET and C# are. so C# is like Java, but C# is a newer second 'version' of Java. and the 2nd time, the guy certainly fixed many things in the language. :) But Java is still a nice language. But C# is newer and has many fixes that they can't really fix in Java because they need to support all the old programs pretty much forever.

I'm not a fan of Python, but it's very popular and wud not be a waste to learn it. i am not interested in it tho because i've heard of so many times the makers of Python had bugs in Python. i don't want a programming language that has many bugs in the language itself! i want to use a programming language that works like it is supposed to. C# isn't perfect, but in my humble opinion, it surpasses Python in just working without major bugs. But Python has been out a while now, so Python shud be rather stable by now. But i don't use it, so i don't know how stable it is now. (Python seems to be the most popular in the SoloLearn community to me.)

But because C# is simpler than C++, i recommend any beginner to learn C#. and many jobs are looking for C# skills. And there's hardly anything one can't do with C#, but there are a few. Once you get good at C#, you will know more about other programming languages, and i'd recommend you learn others too. But starting with C# and JavaScript is a very good choice. ;)

well, glad u see the light. ;P I wish i knew what the future popular technologies will be. i think it's likely that C# will last a long time just cause it's pretty good. but i stand amazed when i see less quality languages last as long as they do. and then u have keyboard layouts like the Qwerty layout that is clearly worse than the Dvorak keyboard layout & Qwerty is by far the winner in popularity. chances are that you've never heard of the Dvorak keyboard layout. ;P If you haven't, you might want to take a good look at it. i wish i wud have found it years earlier. now i use the Dvorak and it's far better than the Qwerty. ;P Qwerty takes about 3 times the effort to type than if one uses the Dvorak. Seriously, Qwerty is that bad. research it yourself if i've peaked your interest. and Dvorak vs Qwerty is just the tip of how stupid popularity winners are. i've learned several other better things in life. but regarding programming languages, i think C++ will be around for a long time. it's nice, but Rust seems like a better alternative than all of them. but i just don't know what will be popular. wish i kud tell.

Thank you so much Shawn Kovac. I started learning C# and it really seems interesting! It's even my new favorite programming language now! Now, I want to ask you some questions. I am currently in middle school and my dreams is to work in NASA. And I want to hear your prediction as to which programming language will be trending. If I am already like 30 years old, I think C# can be good to learn, but I want to know if C# will still be used 20 years later.
But anyways, thank you so much for your time, advice, and the long explanation. Without you, I wouldn't have met my favorite language :)

ok well, i’ll keep learning C# then ;)
