What program is best to begin understanding how to code?

My end goal is to build an Android App, but I'm not familiar with any of this, I'm trying to find a good intro course. Or is it best to just start with Java and never give up?

Understood. SoloLearn is great for getting started and learning the basics of it all. I'd start with going through Java here, and make sure you understand the course here at SoloLearn. Afterwards, I'd start searching for the other resources so you can learn the more advanced stuff. Ultimately, you'll want to constantly whack away at Java, because most of your learning will come from experience with using it. I've learned more from the problems I've ran into and had to debug than I have from anything else, and that only happens if you're actively practicing what you've learned.

If you're looking for a shortcut, that doesn't exist. Easiest route is through blood, sweat, and tears. :) Starting with Java is a great place to begin. Read through it even if you don't understand it fully. Practice it. Read it again; write down what you still don't understand. Research everything that you wrote down. Practice again. Repeat whole process until you understand it better. After you learn Java, take a look at Kotlin and learn it also. That'll help you out a lot in regards to creating Android apps. Best of luck to ya! Never give up!

I'm not so much looking for a short cut, quite the opposite actually. I want to completely internalize this, even if it takes longer. I'm only asking whether anyone knows a good course to begin understanding how to code, or whether it's just best to whack away at Java because everything's near about the same in as much as comprehending goes
