You can, but why would you want to? Try Brackets (not in the app store. brackets.io) or some other editor. If you really want to use textedit you'll need to edit your preferences to make it work right.

Yes, you can, but I think you'll be better off with Webstorm, or Brackets. I also like Atom, but the 2 I mentioned are made for web languages.
