I make a living from writting games on C# in Unity so my answer is no.It's not only for web development.

Depends in what kind of software development you want to do. For example c++ is good at games and I would suggest going for C# next if this is the case.

Do you need to learn a new language? Are their known limitations with c++ that prevent you from doing what your trying to do? I understand the thought process for most is to learn as many languages as possible to become employment ready...However, what if instead you continue to build on what you already know. Can we ever truly be done learning a language? I'm working on C# right now and I'm not planning on switching. I want to become extremely effective with C#.

I'd recommend Java or Python to keep going with the oop theme but lately I've been attracted to Ruby because I lean towards it's​ web friendly interface.
