I use it to programming my Raspberry Pi to do stuff. It's also very popular among data analysts. It's definitely useful when you want to do some automated tasks on your computer. Machine learning algorithms can be written in python (you can programming self driving car with it, email sorting/deleting algorithm). You can get python to check weather and send you Telegram message to take umbrella. The list is really long, and when you get into programming, you will start all questions like:
I want my computer to do this ......... is Python best for that? if not, is it good enough?
