Yes, it's very very useful when the matter is making a page work well on pc and mobile. It must be a bit tricky how you're going to build the page but you just need to get used to it.
I don't know any similar way to get the same results, but what i know is that you can do the entire thing or just details manually, directly on your css, or by JS/Jquery.. but i recommend using bootstrap cause manually it would be exaustive. just use an alternative if you need to modify single details
