Is creating a code with new function but reuse some of the code written by others considered as copying?
My question is : if we trying to make a new function, which is combination of 2 or 3 code we found somewhere, and then we rewrite it and reuse some of the part to suit our need, and turn it to a new function, is it considered as copying?

So in situations like that it may. if you find code that is copyrighted and trademarked. but there is always more than one way to accomplish a task and usually with codes like that you would have to go through a lot of work decompiling and overcoming whatever security features they put into the code. i was talking more about readily found and available code which will usually be accompanied by an open source license. i.e. GPL, BSD, AGPL, etc...

FOSS (free open source software), you just restated some of the primary beliefs of this movement which has helped propel linux and android to the places respectively they are at today. The only real question you should ask is do you feel the work is yours inspired by someone else or someone elses rewritten in which case you should give them credit for their work.

But will it bring us laws consequences? Just from what we see and we know,.. That Samsung keep copying Apple or vice versa, and we all know they did,.. but if they admitted, they will have to pay a huge loyalty fee, although they write the code themselves and only took other ideas as inspiration...

Well, that's clear the cloud in my mind...Although open source license itself still quite confusing me sometimes, but i think i have to just look deeper in it.. đ
