What is the difference between the header and the head?

I know that they are different, but, I would like to know for what reason.

head contains information about the document (meta-tags, title, style, scripts) and is not displayed on the page. whereas the header is the top part of the page commonly containing the logo and (part of) the navigation.

Head is used for meta data and for linking scripts and style sheets to the page. Header is a container element that is used to contain actual content of the page like a title and a logo.
