@klicks I had a similar problem months ago too and I think you should try this... when you open your xampp control panel, at the top right corner of the control panel window, you'll see buttons in rows, so u click on CONFIG button. Then on the windows tab that opens, locate SERVICE AND PORT SETTINGS at the bottom left corner of the tab and click on it. Then on the SERVICE SETTINGS tab that opens, you'll see different settings tabs, then click on the one for MySQL, then in the Main port change the current number in the port to your desired four digit number e.r 3306 - this is going to represent the new configured port number and make sure u have that number written somewhere because u ll stilll use it again later on (I'll exlplain when you need to use it). then click on save, then u ll be taken back to the Config of control panel tab then click on save as well. then you'll be back to the main window of the tab. so locate the equivalent MySQL CONFIG BUTTON under ACTIONS, then click on it. A text editor will open showing you the config. Then type in the keyboard shortcut for search ( ctrl + F) and search for PORT. Anywhere you see PORT with a number(four digits) in front, then change the number in front of the port to that number you used earlier then in SERVICE SETTINGS that I asked you to write out that you'll use later on. Then click on SAVE or "ctrl + s" keyboard shortcut, then close. Now try starting the MySQL service, it is supposed to start now. I hope this helps...

okay. Maybe in that case check if you have any SQL app software installed on your system and uninstall it, and if not then I ll recommend you get a separate standalobe MySQL app software and install it...
