Who says so ? There is nothing like king of languages ,every language has its own power. Basically it depends on what u want to do,for example if you need speed nothing can beat c or c++ if u need abstractions powerful libraries then python ,java ,ruby can be your choice. So it all depends on your requirements that will filter the best suited language for you.

Never heard of it but if you have it may be because a lot of languages were inspired from C++(C actually), C++ can used to make a lot of different things since you can use it in robotics, game making, software engineering e.t.c., and also gives the ability to the programmer to program in a lot of different styles such us OOP or FP.

There is c, c ++ and the others ... C would be considered as the King but it is not a friendly language. Kings have to be friendly. C ++ is the King because it is a friendly and enriched version of the C language.

A LOT is written in and based in C/C++. Even other languages so its the base of a lot of programming while still being highly effective.
