The first language I'd recommend for hacking is Python. If you want to get a better technical understanding of operating systems, C/C++ is worth looking into.
However, python is famously popular among hackers for many reasons. It was even featured on Mr. Robot! :D

seriously though, Google for stuff like "ethical hacking with python", "kali linux", "web penetration testing", etc.

there's many interesting reads and videos. I'm not saying Ruby can't be used for it but personally I never heard of it in this context.
