What are difference between HTML and XHTML?

XHTML is EXtensible HTML based on HTML 4 and designed to integrate with XML easily. It is a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) recommended standard that came after HTML version 4. People from certain major web organizations (Apple, Mozilla, Opera, etc) didnt entirely agree on the direction the HTML language was going and collaborated to create the HTML5 standard. All of these HTML versions are very similar to one another as they are just different steps in an evolution of the same language.
