Your PC isn't a server and so lacks the server settings that automatically load certain file types by default. You need to install WAMP and do your development in the www folder it creates. WAMP is an Apache webserver that will run on your local PC and allow you to develop sites without needing a hosting server ( you will need a hosting g server to deploy to the internet though )
