Now that there are tons of programming languages, the choice is about the taste 😇
For web fronted development I suggest you use React along with HTML/CSS.
For backend use Node.js (this is my personal favorite, I just don't like PHP).
I sometimes do some simple iOS programming, Objective-C is kind of hard for me, that's why I am with Swift now 😍😍😍

Hi,
everything depends on the programmer how he understands the code and writes them in either CLI or GUI.
Many programming languages are available in the market since computer was developed.
examples are : Borland C++ / C / Java/ Python / ......
Some are base languages like Borland C which was used to create other modern languages.
Some IDE are available in the market to create an application in RAD - ( Rapid application development ), which is much more faster to create an application either for MAC/ Mobiles / windows/ Linux.
So it is completely up to the developer to choose a language to create an application either in old fashioned way or create a realistic beautifully designed modern application
( Netbeans and Eclipse are great work environment to create software applications )
So if you are a beginner or advanced , try to create your first application through Netbeans or Eclipse , it also supports all programming languages java, c, c++, javafx, ....
