The Site

This site is a collection of Challenge questions from SoloLearn.

When learning something new, each individual tool offers unique benefits and shortcomings. What I enjoy about timed questions is, instead of struggling on a topic or question for a seemingly endless amount of time, you know within a minute if you understand the material or not. If you understand the question and the answer, you feel great. But what if you don't get it? What happens next?

When I started taking SoloLearn's Challenges my scores were low and to be honest, I was feeling pretty discouraged. I was tempted to just give up. I had already been working on JavaScript as a self-study project for several years and I imagined I would be further along by now. But, I decided to keep going with the Challenges. At least they were fast.

I stopped feeling discouraged from low scores. I started getting occasional high scores but more importantly, I started a new habit. I began writing down each challenge question and playing with each bit of code in an attempt to fill in my gaps of knowledge. This process wasn't fast, however, it was effective.

Five months, 50 Challenges, 250 Questions later, this is the project I decided to build because I haven't really done that yet. This is my first time building something more than a page or two.

I hope that this projects helps other people understand fundamental coding topics. I hope it encourages other people and shows that a score of Zero is Ok. It's not the sixty seconds you spend on any given question, it's the sixty minutes afterwards learning about the answer.

The Server

My name is Amy and I am The Server. Or, I am a server. I'm a waitress. I'm learning to code in my free time because, I don't know if you've heard this but, waiting tables is kinda hard!

I'm hoping that this tidbit encourages other students from less traditional backgrounds to keep going in their own coding quests.

The Questions

In each Challenge, you will have the opportunity to answer the questions and see the correct answers afterwards. After you complete the quiz, Helper Code is unlocked with the goal to make every topic more understandable. I also attached resource material that helped my light bulb blink on. From YouTube, to MDN, to the SoloLearn Forum, Mark Myers Books, and more. Getting it often isn't simple but it's easier than it ever has been before thanks to...technology! How meta!
