Python Operators Lesson

Operators are special symbols in Python that perform arithmetic or logical operations. Here are some common operators:

Arithmetic Operators

Addition: +
Subtraction: -
Multiplication: *
Division: /
Modulus: %
Exponentiation: **

Example:


a = 10
b = 5

print(a + b)  # Output: 15
print(a - b)  # Output: 5
print(a * b)  # Output: 50
print(a / b)  # Output: 2.0
print(a % b)  # Output: 0
print(a ** b) # Output: 100000

Relational Operators

Equal to: ==
Not equal to: !=
Greater than: >
Less than: <
Greater than or equal to: >=
Less than or equal to: <=

Example:


x = 10
y = 5

print(x == y)  # Output: False
print(x != y)  # Output: True
print(x > y)   # Output: True
print(x < y)   # Output: False
print(x >= y)  # Output: True
print(x <= y)  # Output: False

Logical Operators

AND: and
OR: or
NOT: not

Example:


p = True
q = False

print(p and q)  # Output: False
print(p or q)   # Output: True
print(not p)    # Output: False

String Operators

In addition to the above, Python also supports string concatenation using the + operator.

Example:


str1 = "Hello"
str2 = "World"

print(str1 + " " + str2)  # Output: Hello World
