When I first started doing web programming, I began my journey through the ecosystem and tools with pure CSS. Everything was good and calm, while the word framework periodically appeared in my eyes. And then it began…

You don't have to be a genius or a visionary or even a college graduate to be successful. You just need a framework and a dream.

As you probably guessed, the first experience was the wonderful framework Bootstrap. At first it was difficult to understand his approach and all the advantages that he gives us in developing and creating prototypes of web pages. Then, having adapted to it, understanding began to come. No matter what anyone says, but Bootstrap is awesome! And I think this is a reference example for creating other tools and structures. And not only copying approaches, but also the invention of completely new methods in the development and prototyping. It was with him that I began to fall in love with such a thing as a component approach.

After playing a little with this framework, I began to pay attention to other representatives of this ecosystem who were trying to get rid of the flaws that were present in Bootstrap. I will bring only some representatives with whom I was lucky to work a little:

Bulma - Modern CSS framework based on Flexbox.
Foundation - The most advanced responsive front-end framework in the world.
Tachyons - Quickly build and design new UI without writing CSS (I use it in this article by the way)
Pure - Set of small, responsive CSS modules that you can use in every web project.

And many many others. I didn’t include special tools such as Tailwind CSS, etc.

After a while I began to think, do we really need them ? What for? We currently have flexbox, grid, CSS variables and other amazing features and capabilities in modern CSS. I do not want to discuss design systems, I am not very good at this topic.

My own opinion we can and must apply in rapid prototyping these tools. They are indispensable as assistants in this kind of affairs.

In any case, the study of their structure and approaches to the organization of the code can help in organizing our projects.

This article turned out to be dirty and illogical. But for some reason I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys.
