Ingredients

4 cup (520g) all-purpose
2 cups (400g) sugar
1 cup(226g) unsalted butter,
1 cup (226g) margarine
10 eggs
flavour(1tbs=15ml vanilla extractfor vanilla,3/4 cup(64g)of unsweetned cocoa powder for chocolate and 4 large apples with vanilla extract,1tbs banana flavour)
4 tablespoon(26g)powdered milk or 1/2 cup(120ml) milk
1 tablespoon (14g)baking powder
1/2 teaspoon(1g)grated nutmeg (optional)

Mixing the batter

These are the steps for making the batter

preheat the oven to 350°f(177°c)and grease the pan:You can grease the pan by using butter and flour or spray them with baking spray
To make it even easier to remove the cakes,consider using pans with parchment paper
Dissolve the powdered milk in water:measusure(4 tbs/26g)of powdered milk into a bowl and pour 1/2 cup (120ml) of water. Whisk or stir until the powdered milk is completely dissolved.
If you like, use 120ml of liquid milk instead of the powdered milk
Whisk the flour, baking powder,nutmeg together in a seperate bowl.Put 4 cups of the flour into a large bowl, add 1 tbs of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of grated nutmeg, and whisk for 30 seconds
cream the butter, margarine and sugar for 5-10 minutes. Place 1 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of margarine into a large bowl. Use an electric mixer or manually using wooden spoon at medium speed so as to get the mixture pale and fluffy
Beat in 10 eggs 1 at a time on medium speed. Keep the mixer running while you add 1 egg at a time to the creamed mixture, continue beating till you have added a total of 10 eggs.Make sure you use eggs at room temperature.
Beat the batter for 2 minutes at medium-high speed and the flavour
Alternate adding the dry mixture and the milk. Turn the mixer to low and beat in about 1/3 of the dry mix, then beat in half of the milk before you add 1/3 of the dry milk.Beat the rest in milk and flour.
It's fine if there are a few lumps in the cake batter
Overbeating the batter will make the cake though and dense

Baking the cakes

Divide the batter into the pan
Bake the cake for 45-55 minutes. Bake until it becomes golden brown. To test if the cakes are done insert a cake tester or skewer or a knife into the cake.The tester should come out clean if it is ready,if it doesn't then bake longer by 3-5 minutes.
Cool the cake and remove them from the pan. Take the cake out of the oven and set on a wire rack to cool and renove
You can bake 2 cakes of different sizes and stack them and frost them. You can spread Vanilla buttercream on top of the bigger one then place the other on top.You can also use fondant for an extra special look.
If you like to include brandy for flavour, beat 1-2 tablespoons into the batter
