During this mission, Romanoff had assisted Stark with defeating Ivan Vanko's terrorist plots against him.
When Loki declared war on the Earth, Black Widow was recruited into the Avengers as her friend Clint Barton had just been taken hostage by Loki and used as a pawn against the team. Romanoff assisted in recruiting Stark and Bruce Banner into the team while they tracked down and attempted to capture Loki, eventually saving Barton from his grasp. Once Loki's entire plan had been uncovered, Romanoff joined the team during the Battle of New York and was instrumental in destroying the portal over the city which had been created by the Tesseract, effectively ending the entire invasion while Loki was defeated and captured.
In the wake of the Avengers successfully defeating Loki, Romanoff had continued her work with S.H.I.E.L.D., this time working with fellow agent Captain America. While working together, Romanoff and Rogers uncovered a conspiracy following an assassination attempt on Director Nick Fury, which had eventually led to them discovering that HYDRA had somehow been infiltrating their entire organisation. Despite the efforts of the Winter Soldier to stop them, Romanoff helped expose Alexander Pierce's evil schemes to the world, which also resulted in all of her own morally dubious history being revealed to the world. As a result, Romanoff was forced into dropping off the grid again to begin rebuilding her cover.
Romanoff eventually rejoined the Avengers, working to bring down various HYDRA cells across the world and assisting in the capture of their leader, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. However, before she could form a romantic relationship with Bruce Banner, the rogue artificial intelligence Ultron was created by Tony Stark and Banner, forcing Romanoff and the rest of their team to join together and defeat him. Despite being captured, Romanoff was able to inform the team of Ultron's location on Sokovia, resulting in a final battle in which the Avengers had defeated Ultron once and for all. Unlike most members of the original Avengers, Black Widow remained a member while forming the second incarnation of the team.
As the many of the governments of the world had demanded the Avengers to sign the Sokovia Accords in the wake of their recent battles, Romanoff agreed to their terms and signed the Accords. She later joined Iron Man in a fight against Captain America due to of his disagreements with the Accords and his criminal activities with the Winter Soldier who Rogers was attempting to protect. As the two Avengers' factions fought against each other, Romanoff betrayed Iron Man's team in order to assist Captain America to find the instigator of the team's fight. From 1943 to 1945, Rogers attacked multiple HYDRA quarters with his team, the Howling Commandos, in an attempt to capture HYDRA's leader, the Red Skull, and recover the Tesseract. His famous World War II exploits made him a living legend, and during this time he formed a relationship with SSR agent Peggy Carter. Despite losing his best friend and teammate, Bucky Barnes, during a mission, Rogers carried on to help the Allies win the war, but crashed into the Arctic during his final mission. His close friend Howard Stark spent time looking for his body, to no avail, although Stark managed to locate the Tesseract in the Arctic waters. Rogers spent nearly 70 years encased in ice and trapped in suspended animation before he was found by S.H.I.E.L.D. in the early 21st century.
Awake once more, Rogers found himself alone in a modern world that he hardly recognized, and devoted his time training in a gym. After an Asgardian named Loki stole the Tesseract from S.H.I.E.L.D. and declared war on humanity, director Nick Fury, enlisted Rogers' help in retrieving HYDRA's weapon and foiling Loki's plans. Teaming up with a group of individuals, along with Howard Stark's son Tony, who was a superhero operating under the name Iron Man, Rogers joined the team dubbed as the Avengers and played a pivotal role in the Battle of New York, preventing the Chitauri Invasion of Earth, apprehending Loki, and reacquiring the Tesseract.
Fighting for the safety of innocent lives helped Rogers find his place in the new world, prompting him to join S.H.I.E.L.D. in order to maintain peace. However, after serving and completing multiple missions, Rogers discovered that HYDRA, whom he thought had dissolved in 1945, had existed in secret as a parasite within S.H.I.E.L.D., and that they were planning to use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new Project Insight to launch a new world order. Additionally, Rogers' best friend Bucky Barnes was revealed to still be alive, now operating as a brainwashed assassin for HYDRA under the designation 'Winter Soldier'. Along with fellow Avenger Black Widow, Rogers teamed up with the agent Maria Hill and new friend Sam Wilson and helped bring an end to the HYDRA Uprising. With the immediate threat of HYDRA quelled, Rogers and Wilson embarked on a personal quest to locate Barnes.
In the midst of his search, the Avengers were mobilized once more to eliminate the remnants of HYDRA, prompting Rogers to abandon his quest rejoin his former teammates. After securing their victory, Rogers was thrown into another situation when Ultron, a peacekeeping artificial intelligent program designed by Stark and Bruce Banner, decided to eliminate humanity. After defeating Ultron during the Battle of Sokovia, most of the Avengers disbanded, while Rogers stayed on as its leader to guide the second incarnation of the team.
In response to the massive loss of life that occurred during these battles, Rogers was ordered by Thaddeus Ross to sign the Sokovia Accords, which would restrict the Avengers from being heavily involved while forcing them to be supervised by a governing body should they be asked to act. Rogers, unable to trust the government after the HYDRA Uprising, refused to sign, which pit him against Stark, who believed they needed regulatory oversight. When childhood friend Barnes was suspected of being the mastermind behind a bombing, which resulted in multiple deaths including Wakanda's leader, Rogers directly disobeyed his orders to protect Barnes. This action sparked the Avengers Civil War, prompting the Avengers to split into two factions, one led by Rogers and the other by Stark.
After a clash, Stark reconciliation with Rogers and Barnes. However, the truce was short-lived after Stark discovered that Barnes, under HYDRA's orders, assassinated his parents. Filled with rage, Stark attempted to kill Barnes and was forced to fight Rogers as well, who intended to protect his friend. In the ensuing battle, Stark blasted Barnes' metal arm off while Rogers disabled Stark's armor, later leaving his shield and identity as Captain America behind after being bitterly mocked by Stark for not being deserving of it as he kept the truth of the latter's parents' deaths from him. Rogers then freed his loyal teammates from the Raft prison and fled to Wakanda with Barnes, where the pair were granted asylum by its new leader, T'Challa. Due to his status as a war criminal, Rogers remained in Wakanda as a fugitive until Barnes was placed under cryosleep. Though his focus was healing his hands, Strange learned more about the mystic arts and helped the Masters prevent Kaecilius and the Zealots from merging Earth with the Dark Dimension, but not before witnessing the death of the Ancient One. With the demise of his mentor, Strange abandoned his previous life and became the protector of the New York Sanctum in New York City as well as Earth's protector from any inter-dimensional threats. From his new position, Strange met and aided Thor with locating Odin.
A year later , Strange would be thrown into another situation when he was informed by Bruce Banner about Thanos' threat against the universe. He then soon joined Banner, Tony Stark and Peter Parker in combating the threat , during which he was kidnapped by Ebony Maw who tried to retrieve the Time Stone from him, only to be to be rescued by Stark and Parker . He then battled Thanos himself and was forced to give up the Time Stone to save Stark's life. After the Battle of Xandar, in which he finally exacted his vengeance on Ronan, Drax left Xandar with the other Guardians but not before declaring Thanos as his next target.
Following the Guardians, Drax assisted in killing the Abilisk for the Sovereign people, only for Rocket Raccoon to betray them. Drax followed the Guardians as they encountered Ego, the long lost father of Star-Lord. Along the way he developed a close bond with Mantis, who soon revealed that Ego's true plan was to destroy and rebuild the entire universe. Drax and his fellow Guardians defeated Ego, saving the galaxy once more but at the cost of Yondu Udonta's self-sacrifice.
Four years later, the Guardian of the Galaxy joined up with Thor and the Avengers in trying to stop Thanos from obtaining the Infinity Stones. Drax had an opportunity to finally kill Thanos at Knowhere, but failed and the team ended up losing Gamora to the tyrant. Along with some of the Avengers, Drax and his friends would attempt to confront and kill Thanos on his homeworld, Titan, only to fail once again. During this time, Wilson met and soon became an ally of Captain America during the beginning of the HYDRA Uprising, assisting him in bringing down Alexander Pierce's schemes for Project Insight before then choosing to remain with Captain America for future missions.
While the Avengers brought down the remains of HYDRA, Falcon assisted Captain America in his search for Bucky Barnes in order to try and save him from the brainwashing which turned him into an assassin. Following the events of the Ultron Offensive, Falcon was recruited into becoming a member of the second incarnation of the Avengers, during which time he continued his search for Barnes and had an encounter with Ant-Man who was attempting to break into the New Avengers Facility, which had led Wilson to consider recruiting Ant-Man into the Avengers as an asset.
Falcon continued to be an active member of the Avengers, also managing to successfully stop the schemes of Crossbones, until Wilson chose to side with Captain America in violation against the newly formed Sokovia Accords. Believing in his friend and leader, Wilson then assisted him in rescuing the Winter Soldier from the government's JCTC as they tried to expose Helmut Zemo as the true villain. This resulted in Falcon fighting against his former team mates when Iron Man attempted to stop them. In the aftermath of the battle, Wilson was arrested by Thaddeus Ross and taken to the Raft along with his teammates, but was soon freed by Captain America as they were forced to become vigilantes on the run."]); characters.push(["Gamora","Zoe Saldaña","","Gamora was a former assassin and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. She became the adopted daughter of Thanos after he killed her entire race. She served him for years before betraying him in an attempt to free herself from his ways. After the Battle of Xandar, she left to work with them all. Having made a deal with the Sovereign to kill the Abilisk, Gamora was able to take back custody of her fugitive sister Nebula with the intention of finally bringing her to justice in Xandar.
The mission to punish Nebula was delayed however when Gamora and the Guardians came into contact with Ego, the long lost father of Star-Lord. While Ego claimed to just want to bond with his son, Gamora was suspicious and, alongside Nebula who had freed herself, discovered Ego's evil intentions to destroy and rebuild the universe. Upon this discovery, the Guardians teamed up to destroy the living planet, succeeding with the help from Mantis, who joined the group, but at the cost of Yondu Udonta sacrificing his life.
Years later, Gamora and the Guardians intercepted a distress call sent by the Asgardian Thor warning them that Thanos had begun searching for the Infinity Stones himself. Realizing what he intended to do with them, Gamora led her friends to Knowhere to procure the Aether, only for both it and Gamora to be captured by Thanos himself. Thanos took Gamora to Vormir, where he used her as an unwilling sacrifice in order to obtain the Soul Stone."]); characters.push(["Groot","Vin Diesel","","Groot was a sentient, tree-like individual and frequent accomplice of intergalactic criminal Rocket Raccoon. Together, the pair traveled the galaxy picking up bounties until they met Star-Lord and Gamora on Xandar. Subsequently the four of them were captured and put in the Kyln, where they also met Drax. There, Star-Lord convinced them to assist him to sell the Orb for a massive profit and they managed to engineer a break-out and escaped. However, when it was discovered that the Orb contained one of the Infinity Stones which was being sought out by Ronan the Accuser, Groot convinced his friends to risk everything to stop Ronan's plans to destroy Xandar and enslave the world. During the war, Groot sacrificed his own life to save his new friends. However part of his destroyed body was planted by Rocket who regrew a new Groot, now called Baby Groot, as they joined the Guardians of the Galaxy.
As the new Groot slowly grew to the size of the original Groot, he stayed with the Guardians and endeavored with them on many adventures. Groot's tiny body and youthful innocence meant the Guardians spent much of their time trying to keep him out of harm's way. They were hired by the Sovereign to kill the Abilisk, a powerful multidimensional monster that was trying to devour the Anulax Batteries, which powered the planet. After being chased by the Sovereign to Berhert because of Rocket Raccoon who double-crossed them by stealing the batteries, they met Peter Quill's father Ego. He and Rocket, along with Yondu Udonta, were later captured by Taserface's faction of the Ravagers, but Groot was able to help them all escape. Groot then joined his allies and assisted them in destroying Ego and saving his friends, although Udonta lost his life during the battle. Remaining with the Guardians, Groot continued to grow and started exhibiting the personality of an adolescent.
Both the young Groot and Rocket left the other Guardians temporarily to accompany the Asgardian Thor to Nidavellir in order to help him in his mission to stop Thanos from completing the Infinity Gauntlet. After helping Thor obtain his weapon, Stormbreaker, Groot and Rocket traveled to Earth to help the Avengers battle Thanos' forces in Wakanda. The group's efforts to stop Thanus ultimately failed, and when he unleashed the full power of all of the Infinity Stones, Groot and all of the other Guardians except for Rocket died."]); characters.push(["Hawkeye","Jeremy Renner","Clint Barton","Clinton Francis 'Clint' Barton, better known as Hawkeye, is a former special agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., where he worked under the supervision of Phil Coulson. However, following the Attack on the Helicarrier, he was freed from Loki's mental control by Black Widow and joined the Avengers to fight against Loki's alien army in the Battle of New York, ending the Chitauri Invasion before Barton returned to his work as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D..
Hawkeye had continued to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. until its collapse following the HYDRA Uprising, after which he and the Avengers worked to bring down the final remnants of HYDRA, eventually capturing Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and ending the terrorist organistion's threat to the world. However, Hawkeye was pulled back into the fight as Tony Stark had inadvertantly used HYDRA as well as some Chitauri technology to create the psychotic artificial intelligence known as Ultron. As Ultron tried to destroy the world, he allied himself with Pietro and the Wanda Maximoff and Barton focused much of his efforts in convincing them to change sides while keeping the Avengers safe by bringing them into his family home. During the Battle of Sokovia, Hawkeye's life was saved by Quicksilver's sacrifice, resulting in Barton swearing a dept to his sister and retiring from the Avengers to return to his family.
Despite living happily within retirement for a brief time, Barton was recruited by Captain America to aid him during his fight against the newly produced Sokovia Accords, which had forced Rogers that protect his friend Bucky Barnes from being arrested for a crime he did not commit. Feeling he owed a dept to Rogers and Maximoff which he intended to repay, Hawkeye then joined in the Clash of the Avengers, fighting against Iron Man who was in support of the Accords. Despite putting up a good fight, Hawkeye and most of their team were eventually defeated and then briefly imprisoned at the Raft under the orders of Thaddeus Ross, only to be freed by Rogers as Barton returned back to retirement."]); characters.push(["Hulk","Mark Ruffalo","Bruce Banner","Robert Bruce Banner, M.D., Ph.D. is a renowned scientist who was highly respected for all his work in the fields of Biochemistry, Nuclear Physics, and Gamma Radiation. Having been tasked by General Thaddeus Ross to find a way to recreate the Super Soldier Serum which had originated Captain America, Banner conducted an experiment with Gamma Radiation. However, when an exposure to high levels of Gamma Radiation instead of Vita Radiation went awry, the mild-mannered scientist had found that when angered or provoked, he would transform into the huge, rage-fueled, nearly mindless and green-skinned monster known as Hulk.
Fearful of the damage that Hulk could inflict upon innocent lives, Banner chose to live a discreet life in remote parts of the world, working to cure the sick and help the poor while trying to elude those who would try and take advantage of his ability, while also communicating with Samuel Sterns to cure himself. However, when General Ross had sent a team led by Emil Blonsky to apprehend Banner, he was then forced to return to New York City where he recruited the help of Betty Ross and Sterns to cure him of his own curse. However, not long after this test was concluded, Blonsky himself had overdosed on Gamma Radiation and transformed into the Abomination, forcing Ross to allow Banner to turn into the Hulk and battle him before then allowing the Hulk to escape.
When a mounting threat called for Banner's specialized scientific expertise, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury recruited him, knowing full well that the incredible strength of Banner's alter ego, Hulk, would be an additional asset to the Avengers. Banner was tasked with tracking down Loki using the Scepter and tracing down the radiation, working alongside Tony Stark to achieve this. Despite almost causing a disaster when he was forcibly transformed into the Hulk by Loki, Banner rejoined the team during the Battle of New York and assisted them in defeating Loki and his entire army. Once the Avengers split up in the wake of the battle, Banner had become good friends with Stark and was also given the freedom to live in the world without being hunted by General Ross.
In the wake of the HYDRA Uprising, the Avengers regrouped once more to battle the ever growing threat of HYDRA, successfully capturing Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and retaking the Scepter. In order to make it so that the Earth could always be safe without constantly needing all the Avengers to protect it, Banner assisted Stark with creating Ultron, an artificial intelligence. The AI quickly turned against them, trying to cause the extinction of humanity. Hulk helped in the fight against Ultron and decided to go off the grid after the team successfully defeated him. In his exile, Hulk somehow left Earth and crash landed on the planet Sakaar, where the stressful environment prevented him from regressing back into Banner, causing him to remain in Hulk form for two years.
On Sakaar, he became a gladiator for Grandmaster and was soon revered as a beloved champion, choosing to turn his back on the Earth and enjoy the life of a warrior. However, when Thor arrived on the planet, Hulk fought against his old friend in the arena. In the wake of their fight, Hulk learned that Asgard was under threat due to Hela's return and helped Thor and the other Revengers escape the planet, reverting to Banner in the process. In order to defeat Hela, Asgard was destroyed during Ragnarök, so Banner joined the surviving Asgardians, including the redeemed Loki, under the rule of their new king, Thor, on their quest back to Earth."]); characters.push(["Iron Man","Robert Downey Jr.","Tony Stark","Anthony Edward 'Tony' Stark is an eccentric self-described genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist and the former head of Stark Industries. Stark enjoyed the fame that came with his new secret identity and decided to share it with the world, publicly announcing himself as Iron Man.
Fresh off from defeating enemies all over the world, Stark found himself dying due to his own Arc Reactor poisoning his body, all while he was challenged by the vengeful terrorist, Ivan Vanko who attempted to destroy his legacy. Due to their assistance in both these battles, Stark reluctantly agreed to serve as a consultant to Director Nick Fury's peacekeeping intelligence agency S.H.I.E.L.D. where he used his position to upgrade their technology while he began a relationship with Pepper Potts. With the world yet again being threatened, Stark was convinced to join the Avengers and helped defeat the Chitauri and Loki. Due to the battle, he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, leading him to create the Iron Legion to safeguard the world and help him retire.
Threats of the Mandarin forced Stark to come out of retirement to protect the world, only for his overconfidence to put his loved ones at risk and leave him defenseless when his home was destroyed. Stark continued his mission, finding Aldrich Killian was behind the attacks and Trevor Slattery was a pretend Mandarin and eventually Stark defeated Killian, almost losing Pepper Potts in the process. In the wake of the battle, Stark destroyed all of his armors with the Clean Slate Protocol. However, when the Avengers were officially remobilized due to the War on HYDRA, Stark built more armors and resumed his role as Iron Man, aiding them in the capture of Wolfgang von Strucker and acquiring Loki's Scepter.
Once the threat of HYDRA had been ended at last, Stark, with the help of Bruce Banner, built Ultron as a new peace-keeping A.I. to protect the world and allow the Avengers to retire. However, Ultron believed that humanity threatened the world and thus, according to his program, decided to extinguish humanity. Through the work of the Avengers, Ultron was defeated; however not at massive civilian cost and many lives being lost. After the Ultron Offensive, Stark retired from active duty, still haunted by his role in the chaos the A.I. created. The guilt of creating Ultron and causing so much destruction and loss of life eventually convinced Stark to support the Sokovia Accords. However, Stark's own strong support of the Accords lead to a disagreement with his ally Captain America, who opposed the act and what it meant for the team.
When Rogers then proceeded to further break the law to protect the Winter Soldier, Stark was forced to lead the manhunt for his old ally, igniting the Avengers Civil War. Eventually Stark learned that Helmut Zemo had manipulated them into conflict and rejoined his friend, only to have Zemo reveal that the Winter Soldier was responsible for the murder of his parents, causing Stark to seek revenge and fight both Rogers and Barnes, with Rogers successfully disabling his own armor and winning the battle. With Rogers and Barnes on the run, Stark returned to New York to become a mentor to Spider-Man and to guide him in order to make him a better hero than he ever was.
Stark married Pepper Potts, and was recruited by Doctor Strange and a recently returned Bruce Banner to defend Earth from Thanos and the Black Order, who abducted Strange and Spider-Man, causing Stark to travel to Titan to battle Thanos with the help from the Guardians of the Galaxy, although was ultimately defeated and left stranded on Titan, witnessing his allies dying in front of him with Nebula."]); characters.push(["Loki","Tom Hiddleston","Loki Odinson","Loki Laufeyson, or Loki Odinson, was the biological son of Laufey, the ruler of the Frost Giants in Jotunheim. When he grew up, he became known as the 'God of Mischief'. When Thor was to be crowned King, Loki sabotaged the coronation by letting Frost Giants enter Asgard, thus leading Thor to seek vengeance on Jotunheim, which resulted on Thor's banishment to Earth and Loki finding the truth about his heritage. Loki succeeded in his schemes and took the throne as Odin fell into the Odinsleep, however when the Warriors Three and Lady Sif attempted to return Thor home, Loki was forced to try and kill his brother. Nonetheless, Thor then returned from his exile on Earth and ended Loki's reign.
Lost in the darkest depths of the universe, Loki made a deal with The Other, a servant of the Mad Titan Thanos, who gave him a powerful Scepter and command over their army of the Chitauri to conquer Earth. Once he came to Midgard, Loki managed to take possession of the mystical Tesseract and used its power to open a portal above New York City and caused the Chitauri Invasion, but he was ultimately defeated by a group of superheroes called the Avengers. Thor returned him to Asgard, where Odin condemned him to spend the rest of his life in prison as punishment for his crimes.
However, when his mother Frigga was killed during the Sacking of Asgard, Loki was freed by Thor in order to defeat the Dark Elves and their leader, Malekith who desired to use the power of the Aether to transform the universe into eternal darkness. During the fight against the Dark Elves in Svartalfheim, Loki faked his death, and, unbeknownst to everyone in the Kingdom, returned to Asgard and successfully removed Odin from the throne, taking his place as King where he remained for several years. During his reign, Loki continued to rule Asgard by sending Lady Sif on missions to Earth to investigate the attacks of Lorelei and Vin-Tak.
Eventually, the return of Thor forced Loki to reveal his deception as the pair journeyed together to find Odin, arriving just in time to witness Odin's death. The loss of Odin allowed Hela, Odin's first born, to return from banishment and wage war against the Nine Realms. Loki was found himself at Sakaar along with Thor where Loki allied himself with the Grandmaster while Thor was forced to battle against the Hulk. Despite trying to manipulate his way to freedom, Loki chose to side with Thor and the Revengers in a final battle against Hela, in which Loki summoned Surtur, who defeated Hela by causing Ragnarök and destroying all of Asgard. In the wake of the battle, Loki chose to stay by his brother's side and support his ascension to the throne.
Consequences of his deal with Thanos would soon come back to haunt Loki, however, as the Mad Titan intercepted the Asgardians as they were making their way to Earth. In order to save himself and his people, Loki offered the Tesseract to Thanos, only to attempt to kill his former ally. Thanos then turned his wrath upon Loki, snapping his neck, killing the God of Mischief."]); characters.push(["Mantis","Pom Klementieff","","Mantis is a young empathic woman raised by the Celestial Ego and recruited as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. When the Guardians were called to action to stop Thanos from collecting the Infinity Stones to wipe out half the universe, Mantis accompanied some of her group to Knowhere where they failed to stop the warlord from gaining the Aether. After, they followed Thanos to Titan where they teamed up with the Avengers to fight him head-on. She deserted after a fight against her sister. She was captured by the Sovereign and handed back to the Guardians. She escaped and helped Taserface lead the other Ravagers in a mutiny against their former leader Yondu Udonta before leaving to find and kill Gamora. After forgiving and helping her own sister alongside the Guardians during the Battle on Ego's Planet, she left in a ship to pursue a revenge mission against Thanos.
Nebula was eventually captured by Thanos, however, and used as a bargaining tool to convince Gamora to reveal the location of the Soul Stone. Escaping and then pursuing Thanos to Titan, Nebula learned that her adopted father had killed her sister and aided both the Guardians and members of the Avengers in combating Thanos. Despite their efforts, they failed to stop Thanos from obtaining the Infinity Stones, which he then used to wipe out half the universe's population. Nebula was among those who survived, but was left alone on Titan with Tony Stark."]); characters.push(["Rocket Racoon","Bradley Cooper","89P13","89P13 is a genetically enhanced furred animal turned freelance criminal, calling himself Rocket. However as it was discovered that the Orb was one of the Infinity Stones which was being sought out by Ronan the Accuser, Rocket was convinced to risk everything to stop Ronan's plans to destroy Xandar and enslave the world. During the ensuing conflict, Rocket managed to assist his friends in destroying Ronan, despite Groot seemingly being killed. He then became a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy alongside the newly planted baby Groot.
Rocket continued working with the Guardians when they were hired by the Sovereign to slay the Abilisk, however Rocket took the job as a way to steal Anulax Batteries to sell. This angered Ayesha who declared war on the Guardians, hiring the Ravagers to capture them. Rocket and Groot were soon captured by Taserface, who had taken command from Yondu Udonta, which forced Rocket and Udonta to work together to break free and kill Taserface. During his time with Udonta, Rocket learned how to be a better person and understood how much he loves his Guardians family, so he joined the fight against Ego, the father of Star-Lord, losing Udonta during the battle.
Four years later, the Guardians picked up Thor after he and his people were attacked and slaughtered by Thanos, who had resumed his quest for the Infinity Stones himself. The Guardians split up in order to procure different stones; while the rest of the team returned to Knowhere to find the Aether, Rocket and Groot accompanied Thor to Nidavellir to obtain the weapon Stormbreaker. The trio then headed to Earth where they helped the Avengers in defending Wakanda from Thanos' minions. Their efforts to stop Thanos proved for naught in the end, and Rocket was the only Guardian to survive Thanos' subsequent mass slaughter."]); characters.push(["Scarlet Witch","Elizabeth Olsen","Wanda Maximoff","Wanda Maximoff was a native of the Eastern European country of Sokovia who grew up with her twin brother, Pietro. Although Pietro was killed during the ensuing Ultron Offensive, Wanda survived and became a member of the Avengers. During the Avengers Civil War, she sided with Captain America and was briefly imprisoned in the Raft before Rogers freed her along with his teammates.
Over the next few years, Wanda reunited and reconciled with te Vision, and together the two started living off the grid in Europe, forming a romantic relationship. However, the two soon came under threat from Thanos and the Black Order, who sought the Infinity Stone in Vision's head. After coming under attack by the Order, the two Avengers reunited with their teammates and sought refuge in Wakanda. Wanda partook in the city's defense when the Black Order launched a major assault against it, and during the bought, she was tricked by Thanos into helping remove the Mind Stone from Vision, inadvertently allowing the Mad Titan to complete the Infinity Gauntlet; Wanda was subsequently killed in the aftermath."]); characters.push(["Spider Man","Tom Holland","Peter Parker","Peter Benjamin Parker was a high school student and a superhero with spider-like abilities, fighting crime as his alter ego Spider-Man. Following the Clash of the Avengers, Stark allowed Parker to keep the suit for his time as Spider-Man. Parker forged a reputation for himself in New York City and became a well-known local hero. He later stumbled into a group of criminals led by the Vulture, who were creating advanced weapons from stolen Chitauri technology, and went on a quest to defeat their own leader in order to prove to Stark that he was worthy of being an Avenger. Only after defeating Vulture did Parker discover the true responsibilities of a hero, so he decided to decline Stark's offer of membership in the Avengers in order to continue helping the little guy however he could.
When Thanos and his Black Order launched an attack on New York in search of the Time Stone, Parker helped Iron Man and Doctor Strange fend off the invaders. He and Stark stowed away aboard the Black Order's ship to rescue Strange from Ebony Maw, who he and Iron Man threw from the ship while en route to the planet Titan. There, Parker battled Thanos only for the gargantuan despot to beat him into submission, and Thanos murdered Parker and the rest of half of the universe with the completed Infinity Gauntlet."]); characters.push(["Star Lord","Chris Pratt","Peter Quill","Peter Jason Quill was a half-human, half-Celestial who was abducted from Earth by the Yondu Ravager Clan in 1988. A few months later, he and the other Guardians were hired by Ayesha and the Sovereign to defend inter-dimensional batteries from an Abilisk. However, after Rocket stole some of the batteries, Ayesha sent the Sovereign fleet after them, with the Guardians being saved when the fleet is destroyed by Ego, Quill's biological father, whom Quill had never met before. Quill spent a few days bonding with his father, but when Ego revealed that he was responsible for Meredith Quill's death, Quill allied with his fellow Guardians to prevent Ego's quest to terraform the universe. After killing Ego and witnessing Yondu Udonta's sacrifice, Quill continued to lead the Guardians of the Galaxy, and eventually started a relationship with Gamora.
The Guardians of the Galaxy then encountered the Asgardian Thor, and began racing against Gamora's adopted father Thanos to procure the Infinity Stones. Splitting up into two groups, Quill led Gamora, Drax, and Mantis to Knowhere to recover the Aether from the Collector, only to lose both it and Gamora to Thanos. Quill, Drax and Mantis later traveled to Titan, Thanos' homeworld, to confront Thanos in person. With help from Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, the Guardians fought Thanos for a time, during which Quill was devastated to learn that Thanos had killed Gamora, in his anger he unintentionally gave Thanos an opening to strike back and Quill alongside his allies were ultimately defeated. When Thanos did succeed in obtaining all of the stones, he used them to wipe out half the universal population, Quill and the Guardians included, except Rocket Raccoon."]); characters.push(["Thanos","Josh Brolin","Dark Lord","Thanos, referred to as the Dark Lord by his most loyal underlings and the Mad Titan by the galactic community, is a powerful Titan warlord who rules over a distant region of space and commands two massive armies, known as the Chitauri and the Outriders. Both of these new alliances cost Thanos much of his resources, including one of the stones and the loyalty of his two daughters, Gamora and Nebula, and inadvertently resulted in the formation of the two superhero groups: the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Fed up with these failures of his subordinates, Thanos has opted to seek out the six Infinity Stones himself.
After an intense quest for the Infinity Stones with the Avengers, Masters of the Mystic Arts, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the city of Wakanda, despite sustaining a severe injury and almost being killed by Thor, Thanos ultimately triumphed over his enemies once he finally completed the Infinity Gauntlet, using it to finally complete his goal and destroy half of life within the universe."]); characters.push(["Thor","Chris Hemsworth","God of Thunder","Thor Odinson is the current king of Asgard, a founding member of the Avengers, and the God of Thunder. While exiled on Earth, Thor learned humility, finding love with Jane Foster, and helping to save his new friends from a destructive threat sent by his adoptive brother Loki. Sacrificing his own life to save the innocent mortals in the process. Due to his selfless act of sacrifice, Thor redeemed himself in his father's eyes and was granted his power once more, which he then used to defeat Loki's schemes of genocide.
Upon being welcomed back to Asgard as a hero, Thor was forced to return to the Earth in order to retrieve Loki after he had survived falling through a black hole and had begun his attempt at world domination, having taken possession of the Tesseract. Thor joined the Avengers under the guidance of S.H.I.E.L.D. and stood with them to stop the schemes of his own adopted brother, eventually following the newly formed team as they battled against Loki's army of the Chitauri during the Battle of New York until Loki was eventually defeated by the Avengers, captured and returned onto Asgard to await justice for his crimes against the Earth.
Thor returned to Asgard having defeated his brother's schemes, as he then helped the Asgardian Armies restore peace across all of the Nine Realms during the Marauders' War. However the peace proved to be short lived as Thor then fought the Dark Elves during the Second Dark Elf Conflict as they had attempted to transform the Nine Realms into eternal darkness. During these events, Thor was reunited with Jane Foster who had become host to the Aether and a target of the Dark Elves, with Thor being forced to free Loki from imprisonment for his aid. Eventually, the Aether was removed from Foster's body and Loki seemingly sacrificed his life saving Thor from Kurse, leading to the Dark Elves and Malekith were all defeated. Thor renounced his claim to the throne and left Asgard for Earth so he could stay with Foster back on Earth.
During his stay on Earth, Thor helped the Avengers once again, this time in their attempts to locate Loki's Scepter, leading to him joining the fight against HYDRA. Following HYDRA's defeat and the capture of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, the team had to stop the newly created Ultron, a rogue invention inadvertently created by Tony Stark which had threatened to wipe out all of humanity and replace it with its own Ultron Sentries. Once Ultron had been defeated, Thor promised his Avengers allies that he would return and went back to Asgard to investigate the visions he saw when being manipulated by Scarlet Witch, which showed him the Infinity Stones. In his investigations, Thor realized that Loki still lived and had usurped Odin's royal throne during Thor's absence. Thor had soon broken up with Jane Foster.
To aid in both pursuing his brother and finding his father to return peace to Asgard, Thor sought help from Doctor Strange. However Thor was just too late to save his own father from death and, after witnessing Odin's death, Thor met Hela, the Goddess of Death and his sister. In the wake of his first encounter with Hela, Thor's hammer Mjølnir was destroyed and he was banished to Sakaar, where he was forced to compete in the Contest of Champions. After a reunion and subsequent fight with Hulk, the pair allied with the rogue Valkyrie in order to save Asgard. After battling with Hela and losing an eye to her, Thor then had Loki unleash Ragnarök and destroy Asgard, killing Hela in the process, although he escaped with the remaining Asgardians. Declaring that Asgard was all its people and not a place, Thor accepts his newfound position as king and decides to relocate the Asgardians on Earth.
Tragedy only continued to shadow Thor, however, for as they were en route to Earth, their ship was attacked by Thanos and the Black Order, who sought the Tesseract which Loki took from Asgard's vault at the last moment. Thor witnessed Thanos take the stone and murder his brother and people before he was flung from the ship and into deep space. He was picked up by the Guardians of the Galaxy, and teamed up with members Rocket Raccoon and Groot to travel to Nidavellir. With the help of the Dwarf smith Eitri, Thor crafted a new weapon, the maul Stormbreaker, and confronted Thanos on Earth as he was attacking Wakanda. Despite the valiant efforts, Thor, the Guardians, and the Avengers were unable to stop Thanos before he could gain all of the Infinity Stones and kill half the universe's population. Thor was among the few survivors of the act."]); characters.push(["Vision","Paul Bettany","","Vision was an android who possesses a synthetic vibranium body created by Ultron and Helen Cho, along with the powerful gem known as the Mind Stone. Originally conceived as the perfect form for Ultron, the body was stolen by the Avengers, after which it was repurposed by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, who uploaded the remnants of Stark's personal A.I. J.A.R.V.I.S. into it. Upon his birth, Vision declared he was a mixture of Ultron and J.A.R.V.I.S., one that would fight to protect humanity at all costs. Vision then joined the Avengers in the Battle of Sokovia, using his powers to prevent Ultron from transferring his consciousness into the internet and allowing the Avengers to successfully put an end to him.
Following the aftermath of the Ultron Offensive, Vision became an official member of the Avengers under the leadership of Captain America. The new Avengers team did not last long as Vision sided with Tony Stark in supporting the Sokovia Accords, which put him into conflict with Captain America and his faction. As a result, Vision became involved in the Avengers Civil War, where his own newfound feelings for Scarlet Witch caused him to accidentally injure War Machine during the battle, or if the Mind Stone was acting on its own.
Vision and War Machine, along with Iron Man became the remaining members of the Avengers, staying at the New Avengers Facility while also double living with Wanda Maximoff in Europe. While living a quiet life, Vision was ambushed by the Black Order, in pursuit of the Mind Stone. As a result, Vision's endangered life was brought to Wakanda, where Vision was protected from the oncoming assault of Outriders. In an attempt to stop Thanos from gaining the Mind Stone, Maximoff reluctantly destroyed the Stone, and Vision along with it. However, Thanos, using the Time Stone, undid the Mind Stone's destruction and then ripped it out from Vision's head, effectively shutting him down."]); characters.push(["War Machine","Don Cheadle","James Rhodes","Colonel James Rupert Rhodes, commonly known as Rhodey, is a U.S. military officer and jet pilot in the U.S. Air Force. When Stark was kidnapped by the Ten Rings, Rhodes led the mission to rescue his friend. He is known as War Machine when wearing his heavily-armed battlesuit but his alias was temporarily rebranded to Iron Patriot during Aldrich Killian's War.
Having shown his worth during the Battle of Sokovia in which he battled an army of Ultron Sentries, Rhodes became a member of the Avengers under the leadership of Captain America. However Rhodes soon came into conflict with his teammates when he and Tony Stark sided with Thaddeus Ross on the Sokovia Accords. This eventually led to a full-blown conflict between the heroes, with Rhodes taking his friend Stark's side. During a battle with Captain America, Rhodes was badly injured and nearly paralyzed from a friendly-fire attack, forcing him to retire from hero work.
Rhodes returned to the Avengers after a hiatus, becoming the team's liaison with the United Nations. Rhodes disobeyed the Sokovia Accords when he joined Captain America traveling to Wakanda, earning a court martial in the process. Rhodes participated in the Battle of Wakanda, becoming one of the few survivors after Thanos enacted his plan to kill half of the universe."]); characters.push(["Winter Soldier","Sebastian Stan","Bucky Barnes","Sergeant James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes was a former soldier of the 107th Infantry Regiment and the childhood best friend of Steve Rogers. As the threat of World War II was still escalating, Barnes enlisted in the army to do what he could, only to soon be captured by the forces of HYDRA, however Barnes was eventually rescued by Rogers, who had just become Captain America during Barnes' absence. Joining forces in the continuing war, Barnes and Rogers formed the Howling Commandos to battle the Red Skull's forces. During an attempt to capture HYDRA scientist Arnim Zola, Barnes was caught in an ambush and plummeted from the HYDRA train, where he vanished and was then presumed to be deceased.
Unbeknownst to his team, Barnes had actually survived the attack on the train, albeit with the loss of his left arm. Brainwashed and armed with a new cybernetic limb, Barnes ultimately became an enhanced HYDRA operative known as the Winter Soldier. Over the next several decades, he would eliminate anyone who posed a threat to HYDRA, including his former ally, Howard Stark as well as his wife Maria. Between his missions, Barnes would be put into a cryogenic stasis to preserve his longevity. Over half a century later, when he was ordered by HYDRA's new leader Alexander Pierce to assassinate S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury, the Winter Soldier was unexpectedly confronted by his old friend, Steve Rogers, triggering him to begin remembering his prior life before HYDRA.
In the wake of the Battle at the Triskelion, the Winter Soldier went on the run from HYDRA onto a mission to remember his past and end his long violent history. However, Barnes was then accused of causing a terrorist bombing, which claimed the life of T'Chaka, the King of Wakanda, among others. As Black Panther sought revenge for his father's death, Barnes was soon saved by Captain America, sparking the Avengers Civil War as Tony Stark was sent to capture him. As it was revealed that Helmut Zemo had organized the Civil War, he revealed that Barnes had murdered Stark's parents years ago.
