What's being done?

Affected states are taking multiple measures to mitigate the damages done by invading snakeheads. For example, owning a live snakehead is outlawed. Snakeheads are also being studied by scientists to find feeding patterns and mating patterns.

What can I do to help?

If you see an untagged fish, call The Virginia Department of Inland Fisheries at 804-367-2925. Snakeheads must be dead when in possession. The department asks that all snakeheads are killed if possible. Snakeheads can breath air, so do not leave them on the bank. If you catch a tagged fish, call the number on the tag immediately.
