.push function

The.push function is used for creating a new array item. In the code below, the first line is there the array is created, the second line is there I put the .push function, and inside its parentheses is there the new string.

var = array ["Hello", 1, 2, 3, 4, 5];

array.push("World");

//output "Hello", 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, "World">

.pop function

The .pop function removes the last item in an array or all but the last item, and then it outputs the item(s) from the array. It works by creating another varible and then making it equal to array varible, and creating .pop and inside the parentheses, putting one of those varible names. If you put the array varible the outcome will be the last array will show, but if the other varible name is there all other array items will show other then the last one.

var array = ["First item", 2, "Third item", 3, "Last item of the array"];

var popFunction = array.pop(Type the varible name here);

//output "First item", 2, "Third item", 3 If you typed in popFunction

//output "Last item of the array"If you typed in array (the varible name)

.shift function

.shiftfunction, is almost like the .pop function, but instead of working with the last item in the array, it works with the first one. The setup is exactly the same as the .pop function and the varible name still goes inside the parentheses, albiet instead of the .pop function being after the array's varible name, its the .shift function.

var array = ["This is the first item in the array", "Second item", 3, "Fourth item", 5, "This is the second item in the array"]

var shiftFunction = array.shift();

//output "This is the first item in the array", "Second item", 3, "Fourth item", 5] If you choose the array
//output "This is the first item in the array" If shiftFunction is put
