Tribute to Bob Marley

The Legend

1945- born in Nine Mile, Jamaica, mixed race
1955- Father died of a heart attack when bob was 10, at the age of 70
1962- Left school at 14, and trained as a welder
1963- forms the Wailing Rudeboys, later becoming the wailen wailer's
1966- marries Rita (Alpharita) Anderson
1972- The Wailer's big break came in 1972, when they landed a contract with island records
1972-The Wailer's had their first hit outside Jamaica, when Jhonny Nash covered their hit song "stir it up"
1973- Album "Catch a fire" was released world wide and sold well
1974- Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the Wailers Bob also left too
1977- Released solo album Exodus, that gained him worldwide recognition and sold over 75 million records
1978- politics got violent and deadly in a series of protest, Bob Marley negotiated with the goverment and held a peace concert called one love to stop the bloodshed
1980- Marley and The Wailers kick off the year with a concert in the newly independent African nation of Zimbabwe, later in that year, while jogging in New York's Central Park, Marley collapses. Doctors discover cancer has spread to his lungs, liver and brain
1981- Marley dies in the US at a hospital aged 36
1986- The Marley Museum is opened in Kingston, on the site of his former home
1990-Bob birthday is declared a national holiday in Jamaica
1994- Bob Marley is Posthumously admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
