About Me

Greetings! I'm Amy. Coding is about to change my world for the better and I am super excited! Join me on my journey to learning code as I conquer life and motherhood. Further down on the page, I've created a "My Updates" section so that curious passersby, such as yourself, can get a peek at my progress. :)

I look forward to creating websites, apps and beyond! However, it's not just about what I can create. Learning to code is giving me problem-solving skills and a way to communicate with others on a technical level. I am going to start with website development. In terms of apps, I have quite a few in mind, already, and can't wait to roll them out!

2/20/19- Update! On New Years Eve 2019, if someone told me that I would be waking up between 3 and 4am every morning to passionately learn coding, I would have looked at them and said, "What's coding?" LOL And, yet, here I am, one month strong, at 3:33am about to get into my Udemy course to complete the unit on Flexbox with JS soon to follow! I am super excited about learning JS. Once I have that under my belt, you better believe it's going to be on! Of course, I'm not stopping there, but I have some great ideas in mind that I can't wait to start manifesting. Worth noting, I am getting ready to put together my portfolio site! Once I've posted it, I will be sharing the link on here, and, most likely, exporting over this humble little SoloLearn blog to it's new home. Can't wait to share what I've been cooking up!!
Yesterday, I was sitting at work and thinking about my learning goals and had the thought, "I'm so excited about this, but it scares the crap out of me." In that instant, the verity of a quote, that I heard late last year, struck me:

1/19/19- I've completed the modules for basic HTML and am about to start the modules for HTML5! Feeling more confident, and having fun! Also, figured out how to get my picture into the icon for my blog! 50% progress today.

1/20/19- Reflection...I've been cracking away at the HTML5 tutorial and am thrown by the amount of JS that is being taught. It's a learning curve, but I understand what is happening in theory. If anything, I feel that by the time I get to the JS tutorials, it won't look as alien or intimidating to me, and I'll feel more prepared. I'm sure there is a method to SoloLearn's maddness. lol

1/20/19- I just completed my first course! (HTML) Next on the agenda is CSS.

1/22/19- I'm back at it again, cracking away at CSS tonight. I didn't get to work on CSS this morning as I was completing something. However, I'm making up for it tonight. The last few days I spent reviewing my knowledge of HTML and making sure I truly conceptualized the language enough to apply it in my own projects. That being said, I definitely feel that I have a stronger command of HTML. HTML5.... well that's a different story. But, once I get into learning JS, I'm sure HTML5 will become clearer. As for now, I am enjoying learning about what I can do with CSS!

2/2/19- Everyday I am amazed at the motivation I maintain to push foward through my goals and know I must be on the right path. With no alarm set, for the last 2 weeks, I've consistently awakened at 3:30/4am-- Perhaps mild insomnia, but it's the most productive insomnia I've ever had! LOL I turn over, turn on my lamp, turn on my computer and get to it. I've actually been using a web development class I purchased on Udemy. Referencing multiple tutorial sources, my concepts of CSS and HTML are much stronger, and I have started creating some nice home pages! I will eventually return back to SoloLearn to complete the CSS modules, and learn other languages, however I feel that learning from multiple sources reinforces what I have learned while introducing me to new information that may not have been covered by other tutorials. Anyways, as soon as I type this last sentence, I am going to begin the boostrap modules in my Udemy web development course.

2/3/19- I am about 98% done with my CSS course on SoloLearn and decided to apply some of the cool things I've learned about animations and shadows into the blog. My name continuously changing colors may be overkill, but it's all in fun! :) I would love to learn a way to make my older update entries appear and disappear on click, because this section is getting too long. Perhaps I'll learn that in JS-- which is next on my learning path. I could truly do this all day, but my little one just woke up, so off to do the mommy-thing.
Edit: Just completed SoloLearn's CSS Fundamental's course. About to start JavaScript! I'm so excited!
