Introduction

Go also known as Golang is an open source, compiled and statically typed programming language developed by Google. The key people behind the creation of Go are Rob Pike, Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer. Go was made publicly available in November 2009.

Go is a general-purpose programming language with a simple syntax and is backed by a robust standard library. One of the key areas where Go shines is the creation of highly available and scalable web apps. Go can also be used to create command-line applications, desktop apps and even mobile applications.

Golang Installation

For Golang installation you can simply search "install golang" in your browser and you can install from its official site .You have to install a compiler and IDE for using Golang.For compiling and execute your program simply write go run filename.go

First Code in Golang

In programming we have some inbuilt functions for do some task , So if we want to print something in console , you have a function name Println() .Inside the brakets whatever you will write in quotes ,it will show in console.But Println() function is belongs to a package known as "fmt" which means format. So for using the Println() you have to import the package ,by simply writing import ("fmt") , now you have to mention that Println() belongs to a package known as fmt so you have write fmt.Println() , which simply means Println() belongs to package fmt.for statring execution we have to declare a main function by writing

now in golang its compulsary to create main package for access your func by other. So, here is the full code to print hello world.

Varibles and constants

A variable is a storage unit of a particular data type. You can give assign a name (label) to this storage unit. A variable must be defined with the type of data it is holding. For example, string is a data type provided by Go to store character or text data.Constant are those whose value cant be changed after asigning. You can asign a varible using var keyword ,for eg : var a = 10 more know more please see the video given above.

Function is use for make reuseable , in Golang we create function using key word func

loops in Golang

loops is use for itration ,for example if you wanna print Hello World then simply you will write fmt.Println("Hello World") and if You want to print Hello World 100times then its not possible to write Println 100times .So loops will help you in this case .

Exported Names

After importing a package, you can refer to the names it exports (meaning variables, methods and functions that are available from outside of the package). In Go, a name is exported if it begins with a capital letter. Foo is an exported name, as is FOO . The name foo is not exported.

Varibles Scope

The Scope of a variable can be defined as a part of the program where a particular variable is accessible. A variable can be defined in a class, method, loop, etc. Like C/C++, in Golang all identifiers are lexically (or statically) scoped, i.e. scope of a variable can be determined at compile time.

Math Package

Package math provides basic constants and mathematical functions.

If-Else and Switch statement

In Golang we have the following conditional statements: The if statement - executes some code if one condition is true. The if...else statement - executes some code if a condition is true and another code if that condition is false.

A switch statement is a shorter way to write a sequence of if - else statements. It runs the first case whose value is equal to the condition expression. Go's switch is like the one in C, C++, Java, JavaScript, and PHP, except that Go only runs the selected case, not all the cases that follow.

Defer

A defer statement pushes a function call onto a list. The list of saved calls is executed after the surrounding function returns. Defer statements allow us to think about closing each file right after opening it, guaranteeing that, regardless of the number of return statements in the function, the files will be closed.

Struct in Golang

A struct is a user-defined type that contains a collection of named fields/properties. It is used to group related data together to form a single unit. Any real-world entity that has a set of properties can be represented using a struct.
