C# is currently most secured language and vastly used in web app, and standalone app. As for phone app, we look at android(java) and ios(objective-c)

You can use C# for a lot of dev projects. Unity, Android programming with Cortana and the .Net Framework is already ported for Linux. In my mind Java is more suitable for multiplatform purposes cause you must not generate bytecode.
