Is there a correct/prescribed way of crediting another author and site when reusing their code.

I recently found an amazing code on codepen and modified it to work on my phone and added functionality to it with a button. I indicated in the beginning of the code who the original author was and where the code could be found. I also repeated this in the comments. I was wondering if there is a prescribed way of indicating that your code contains prior work. https://www.sololearn.com/Discuss/628833/?ref=app maybe we should add the word fork to the name.

For SoloLearn, you could continue what you were doing previously. Original Author: <<His name with a link to the code>> Also, have a read here: https://www.quora.com/Is-it-cheating-to-copy-code-from-CodePen
