Learning program development, but still don't have ideas.

Hi everyone, I'm Federico, I live in Sicily (Italy) and I'm a dancer and an actor. It could sound strange, but I'm learning programming because it relaxes me so much: I've always been interested on that because my father is a programmer. This is the first time I start to study with method and constancy and I really want to become professional at this, but I sometimes wonder if I'm doing wrong because I don't really have any ideas about programs or applications I'd like to develop. I mean, I didn't start to study because I had an idea I wanted to develop, on the contrary I'm studying just for programming' sake. Now I wonder if ideas will come or else if it isn't necessary to have ideas on your own. The only thing that I can think about right now is that would be interesting to connect programming with acting, still don't know how, but I believe I could find something good. I'm waiting for your opinions and advices :)

Well, don't worry if you don't have ideas now. It's super normal, my best advice is try to see other programs that already exist for acting, and ask your fellow actors, what app/program could help them or do they think they need? Not always the answers will be correct for you to put them as a goal, but at least they will give you a clue. Another great tip is to look for the needs of them and think how you can solve that with an app/program.

Oh yeah totally. Every time I write some code, five ideas for other projects spring to mind. I have a mile-long list of projects I know I'm not even going to begin at this point. If you don't know where to start, just pick a broad enough goal (e.g. "make a pretty picture with code") and wing it from there, I'm sure things will snowball. Programming is a bottomless pit of stuff to do and explore, and programmers arguably have the biggest online communities to help out if you are stuck.

Well, ideas just come to you, to be honest. I have been programming for like 5-6 months and I am just 14. And, how I come with ideas is either walking in the yard till I see something that will click in my head what I could do or just be laying in my bed staring at my ceiling fan till something in my head clicks. And this doesn't necessarily need to be used with coding. It can be used with problem sovling, character design, cartoon character. Just a fresh thought. There are millions of ways you could mix code with dancing and acting. But that's for you to find out. Cause that's your creation, your mind, and your coding Not mind. Unless we were in a team lol. Have a great day coding :D

You're really kind! I'll follow your advices. I will look for programs that already exists and I will think about what could help in acting and training for acting. :)
