🙅The implications of the new challenge system 🙅

Since the new challenge system came live everyone is just too busy with the challenge Factory and have suddenly forgotten about the playground this has affected Sololearn as they can't even find a reasonable code/post to get on the Activity Feed since there's no good reward for good codes! ... I wish Sololearn gives us attractive rewards for good codes.

50 codes with 5 upvotes give you around 2000 XP. It takes a month or more to achieve this. 400 draws in challenges give you 2000 XP. It takes 2-3 days to achieve this. I appreciate the new challenge XP system but code playground XP system should change too.

No one is learning anymore, most are now just here for competition. Now I can't even concentrate cos I receive more challenges than I can handle each day!

@visph : I meant 1 code with 1 upvote + 1 code with 5 upvotes + 5 codes with 5 upvotes + 10 codes with 5 upvotes + 50 codes with 5 upvotes.

I agree @Nomeh, but the biggest problem is that a "good code" is not a "code with beautiful or funny output" and lots of people do not make this difference. Worst, they think that a code is good if its output is whether funny or beautiful

...it's been about 5 days now since the Activity Feed got it's last “trending now from the community”, I bet the Challenge Factory is not going to let good coders show off they skills cos it's terrifying to see more newbies with only 3 codes/10 posts to top everyone in few hours.

I used to think losing XP was a price I paid to test myself and learn new isms. Now I feel like I get XP just for participation. And when 1 challenges, another and another, as if they are 3 accounts belonging to the same user? Challenges are meant to be fun, now it's just getting meh. IMHO, good code should receive more XP because it takes problem solving. Not pretty code, either. I mean clever code. But whatever, I came to learn. I'll keep that up and maybe make my career in code or at least the apps I want to make. I don't need a million badges. I never tried to get silver, just happened. I'm here for the journey.

Well to me challenges, more challenges aren't bad, sometimes one may think he understands some concepts only to realize he doesn't, well not really. I see the playground or the code section not to be a showcase of what we know or prove to the community how good we are. More over "Good code" can't really be quantified because to everyone his or her code is "Good". Not forgetting over 80% "copied codes" from codepen and others. The very reason why I try my best to put codes on playground is to help someone, pick or study from them. But I believe with time Sololearn will improve and even add more features to all sections. Slogan: Build to learn, learn building.

@Khrishna: 50 codes with 5 upvotes give 'only' 1000xp... and you need to complain to sololearn crew for receiving badge/xp as it doesn't come by itself ;P

I think SoloLearn is okay the way it is; if you're not up for challenges, fine, leave them and just post codes (Hatsy seems to be doing well in that respect). Again if you don't want to post codes, you can always settle for the challenges. Either ways, XP is awarded for both based on the quality of your work in each situation so it ultimately boils down to user preference, don't dump all the blame on SoloLearn. That's my little 2 cents ✌.
