For code testing. I use online editor. https://jsitor.com/ Its like a lighter version of VScode and has instant output. And no set up requirements only 1 page support. For projects that require multiple pages I use VScode.

Highly recommend VScode or Atom. If you expect to write JavaScript in an enterprise environment, it might be better for you to use VScode as many developers already operate in VScode. Might be beneficial for you to be comfortable with it's features.
