is this old version of javascript which we are learning?

We are learning what is currently supported by most if not all web browsers. If an "old" specification is still valid then it's not old.
Current EcmaScript (JavaScript) version is: 7th edition - June 2016. It's so recent I don't think browser vendors are able to implement it so fast.
