Html on textedit (mac)

Hello, I am trying to do this on my computer and found that when on TextEdit, I can automatically save as a html file, but when opened, I am shown everything including the tags. Anyone know how to address this?

Textedit is by default in word processing mode so anything written in it would not be considered as plain text thus when saved with HTML extension will also contains a lot of unwanted stuff with it(which you can easily see by opening this file in any other text editor) To make/work with HTML file, select format > Make Plain text ( shortcut for it is shift + cmd + T ) Now your textedit would be in plain text mode and your html file will be displayed as it should be.
