How to learn programming without giving up or putting yourself down when things get tough?

I've been learning programming for over 5 years and decided to quit last year. But ever since I quit I honestly can't find anything else I enjoy doing. I started back learning it again but now I'm filled with unbelievable doubts of how I'm not good enough. I've interned at a few startups but never had a job in programming. My goal is to change careers. I'm 31 and feel like I'm running out of time.

If u truly love programming then u will never quit from it. Think coding as a video game...There are different levels- some are tough, some are easy...U just have to stick together and beat it! NEVER LOSE HOPE!😉

I'm in the same boat. I'm in year 2 of learning and I get the basics, but the advanced stuff is getting overwhelming and more complicated (JavaScript). I find JS to be sometimes inconsistent. I just been waiting for the moment where everything "clicks" but it seems like that may never happen or at least not until more time passes. I guess what's keeping me motivated for now is "I know more than I did yesterday/last week/last month/last year" .. I'd also recommend trying different programming languages and see which one clicks for you. Oddly enough I'm finding that C# is making more sense to me which is supposed to be more difficult than JS. I guess it just comes down to finding whatever floats your boat.
