I think more information is necessary here to improve clarity on your intention. "Pass the key and value into variables" here did not come so clear unfortunately.

As I understand, keys and values in PHP are related to associative array, so passing key & value to a variable (except for associative array variable) doesn't make much sense. Please elaborate more.
