Question Removed?

I have noticed that sometimes questions get removed. Guessing that this is not on part of the asker, why and how does this happen? Also, how do I know what happened to it? In this case I was contributing to a question where I conversed with elvisreal for 2 days and now it’s gone :( Anyone?

Sometimes they do delete them on their own, but mostly it will be 'mfd' - marked for deletion. Not only duplicates get deleted but also off-topic threads that have no resemblance to a programming-related question.

Brave Tea, GAWEN STEASY it happened to me too. I can't quite remember the question but a pitfall for many beginners when using python lists. After solving the problem the thread got deleted. So neither me or any other user could benefit from this post. Sad to some extent don't you think? Would it be feasible to notify all that have been contributing before deletion, so she/he could copy her/his answer? Cheers.C

If a question is not in accordance with the guidelines or a duplicate, a mod might add a tag "mfd". Every 24hs or so a bit goes thru all questions with that tag and deletes them.
