On topic: Yes, it is important. Why shouldn't it be? It's like you are going to create a game for PS4 and you won't give it a title, whoever is gonna buy that game will throw it away, get bored of it or in the worst he/she won't even care to buy it in the first place.
Same for your site, you are going to create a site or a blog and you won't give it a title, who is going to search for it? who is going to find it interesting? who is even going to give it a LOOK? Nobody.
The title is always important, it's how it going to resemble you and your site.

Although it is not necessarily to put a title on your webpages, but it almost important since that a title is like a name that you can call to. If you doesn't give title, then how peoples would call it or them? Simpler, everything needs title and name. As Itami gave a good analogy earlier. 😁
