Programming v Scripting

What it's the difference between programming language and scripting language. We can do some programs that a programming language can do with scripting language too. Then why scripting language is not a programming language?

I bet this has been asked before. Scripting languages are usually interpreted (as opposed to compiled) programming languages. They are still programming languages. It's the markup languages like html, XML that are not programming languages.
