From the FAQ: That depends on what you're trying to achieve. For web development: Start with HTML, and then move on to CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, and SQL. For general application programming: Python, C++, and Ruby; then Java, C#, or Swift, based on the platform you're targeting. Re: https://www.sololearn.com/faq/#q1

Nida Teachers are for the most part good at doing things in a hard way! ;) But s/he was right somehow -- although it's usually get advised based on the curriculum and personal experience/opinion. Also, teachers usually say that if you learn this one you most certainly can learn that one later on when you get to grip with basics, as well! So, "enduring a little beat up from tough guys like C/C++ makes learning everything else much more easier" , they say!

Start with knowing why you need to learn to program, what will you be using it for and what is the right language for you to learn 👍 Then one of us can help you choose the correct language to learn.
