KrOW and N00B are both correct. Hosting services like 000webhost will also allow you to start without having a domain but then of course the URL will be under their name. Free hosting services will typically also put a watermark over your site unless you pay for premium. But regardless, if you do eventually want to have a local Web playground XAMPP is simple to set up. Basic set up is just install, then make a folder in htdocs called whatever you want, plonk your HTML file or whatever in there, click start on Apache in the XAMPP console - assuming you're on a safe home network, then direct your browser to localhost/yoursitefolder/file and done. Then you can just edit the file on the side in your favourite text editor and you'll have a live preview now as you work. Then when you're done testing just update your external Web host with the new files. Don't forget to stop Apache when you're done though.

If Gaurav Garg want own website only for own network (not on internet) the affair is different but i repeat... From what he said, i understand that he want own website on internet

KrOW Ah, now I see you point. Thanks for clarifying that. It's a bit difficult to understand "online in any browser". But yes, you are right. If he really wants to get his website online I would also use webhosting. But I only can recommend 000webhost for testing purposes. If he want to get advanced, he should't be using 000webhost anymore.

KrOW Do you really think 000webhosting is better or even more secure? He is obviously a beginner in webdevelopment if he ask such questions and I think for local development he doesn't need to be online at all. On 000webhost he is 10 times more likely to get hacked than using XAMPP.

KrOW If his account is getting hacked it might get very expensive... So it depends on what kind of important file he has on his pc. Therefore he can just use an old computer for XAMPP. But why would anyone hack him anyway? You only can access you website on the local network. Do you think his family has bad intent and want to hack him?

Gaurav Garg Dont use it for now... Its a web server application that run on YOUR machine and if not good configured, can cause disasters. Futhermore you have to get always a domain for post your website on internet without take cure of ip and some other things... Try some free online web hosting (like 000webhost, altervista etc) and remember to see my previous link
