It's very interesting to see how other people solve the same problem. I found several ways to make my codes more efficient. /By the way, I thought the question was about coding challenges (the ones that are published on the main page and everyone can participate in). If it's not, my answer doesn't make too much sense...

I think it improves your intuition of syntax or type behaviour. I feel that my ability to find mistakes quickly has improved by doing a lot of challenges. Also, if you take the time to study the problems you got wrong, you clear out blind spots in your knowledge. There comes a point, though, where you know many problems by heart, and then obviously the benefit is limited. The process by which new riddles enter the set, seems to be rather slow ...

For me, it really allowed me to polish skills that I’ve already aquired. it does this by making you think on the fly and analyze problems faster. For the problems that I got wrong, I always go back and try to create examples to insure that I don’t make the same mistake twice. I always questioned whether quiz questions would be useful to a programmer. They can definitely be as long as you use them as a means of learning and progressing your knowledge further. If youre just getting 5/5 on every challenge, then your time can be spent more efficiently else where.

It develops the skill of thinking the answers of questions very quickly, searching the fault of questions etc. BTW I think your tag is not relevant to your post!! the tag looks like an absurd tag! It will be better if you change your tag!!
