I believe it depends on what you want to achieve as a programmer. But the truth is no one is truly an expert in programming. Why? Because for a start, there are a lot of programming languages and they all have their respective place and uses.

My advice would be, know what you would want to do with your programming knowledge and pick the appropriate language and learn it well. Along the line you can easily learn others because of their similarities in syntax and complementing nature.
