Short ways to remember? Don't forget. :) So I guess the question is how does one not forget? Consistency. Whatever you consistently do, you'll remember to do, you'll get better at, and it'll become as ingrained into your being as it is to breathe air; effortless habit. Just like most subjects that you've learned in life, whatever you don't use you lose. Whatever you use the most you reinforce the most inside. So if you have to give the same passion and effort to your programming as you would something else that you enjoy, and that'll create stronger neurological bonds inside of your brain. Think about all of the great memories you have of your entire life........now I want you to think about how much of your life you DON'T even remember. Yeah, it's a huge tilt in the ratio of what you remember versus what you can't remember. Often you remember the big highlights of your life. Why? Because when you give something high energy, it creates stronger bonds in your brain, so the less important stuff of your days are discarded by the brain because it's useless junk it doesn't need. However, if you gave high energy to something, the brain recognizes it as something that's important to hold onto and it holds onto it. The brain is an amazing machine and is very efficient in what it does, especially in regard to energy conservation.

Do small exercises that put into practice the things you've seen before. Things should be familiar to you and therefore you will not have so many problems.
