What does a typical project look like?

I have yet to bring everything I've learned so far together in my first project. I want to know how ppl know what to make when building something for the web. Are there any experts out there?

If you looking for project ideas there’s loads on the internet especially reddit. But you could also make a small web application that helps you automate something tedious in your life or maybe a web application that you could use in your other hobbies. Also other people come up with their project ideas by:
- The points I mentioned above
- Inspiration from someone else’s code or from media
- They’re genuinely creative
