Is there a collection of 'best practices' for web developers?

Hey there! I'm just starting out and enjoying the journey so far. It's great to learn so much in the beginning and see immediate results. I noticed in sololearn, you learn lots of different parts about one function, but many of these aren't used in the real world. So I was wondering if anyone here knows a website or book, that just teaches the things, that are important for web developers (like 'mobile first', using the grid model, never do this.. always check that...) I hope you understand what I mean :D

I like to refer to this: http://www.codingdojo.com/blog/web-development-best-practices/ Also look on the official w3 site, it has a lot https://www.w3.org/standards/
