Java is an OOP programming language while HTML is a Hypertext markup language, not a programming language , It cannot manipulate any data. The sole purpose of HTML is displaying things on the webpages.  Java creates applications that run in a virtual machine or browser while html code is run on a browser. Java code needs to be compiled while html code are all in text. java is used for creating application for desktop as well as websites. Java is used in the form of servlets, JSP(Java Server Pages), Java beans and many other frameworks in web development. Java can be used for handle connections to databases, manipulating data to be displayed etc. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-HTML-and-Java-while-creating-websites
