Is there any mayor thing that jQuery has that JavaScript cannot do on it's own?
just wondering if there are any other advantages of learning jQuery apart from having a shorter syntax.

jQuery "is" made by JavaScript, so there's quite nothing that jQuery can do but JavaScript cannot.
