My suggestions:
Either:
C++ -> Java -> Python 3 -> SQL (not really a language, but it does get you loads of $$ with other languages) -> whatever (something like C#, Go, or another upcoming language)
Or:
Python 3 -> Java -> C++ -> SQL -> whatever (see above)
