Which programming is useful to develop a custom Artificial Intelligence?

I am very aware Python is best for the creation of video games although out of my curiosity, can the Python programming be useful enough to develop and program an artificial intelligence with specific coding of certain aspects?
I am also aware Java may also be best for the creation of video games as well and could even create a custom A.I.
I do not know much about the rest of the programmings included in the tag.
